SUMMARY:Drive in to Drive out Drugs Event
DESCRIPTION:Partnership brings event downtown to raise money for drug awareness and prevention\n\n \n\nThe Sampson County Meth Task Force is partnering with the Clinton Main Street Program and Eastpointe to bring the 3rd annual "Drive In to Drive Out Drugs" event to Downtown Clinton. The drive-in will be held on Saturday\, March 29\, 2014 from 10 am to 2 pm on the Courthouse Square in Clinton. All proceeds from the event will benefit Sampson County youth through the Task Force's educational programs. The organizing committee has developed this signature fundraising event for the Task Force\, which will use the funds to expand the "Stay on Track" drug awareness and prevention program in middle schools throughout Sampson County. The Task Force seeks to emphasize drug awareness education and drug use prevention to ease the burden of suppression and intervention that lies on law enforcement. \n\nThe Drive-In will be a family-friendly event featuring motorcycles\, cars\, trucks\, tractors\, emergency service\, business vehicles and even an "Ugly truck" contest. Music will be provided by Robert Stroud of the Boogie Shoes Network as well as local entertainment groups. Registrants and donors will receive a free drink coupon to be used at participating downtown businesses (Alfredo's\, Andy's/Hwy 55\, Butler's Pharmacy and Kaleel's City Grill). There will also be a 50/50 drawing to raise additional funds for the "Stay on Track" program. And don't miss the first annual "Battle of the Badges" competition between the Clinton Fire Department and Clinton Police Department\, in which fire fighters and law enforcement will participate in some good spirited competition to prove which badge will rule in 2014.\n\nRegistration begins at 10:00 am in the parking lot at the west end of the Sampson County Courthouse and is $20 per vehicle. Spectators are free. For more information\, please call 910-299-4904 or visit www.methdeath.org. If you would like to make a donation to the Task Force\, please make your check payable and mail to: Sampson County Meth Task Force\, PO Box 1105\, Clinton NC 28329.
