Sorghum Festival

The Old School Sorghum Festival is held each year on the 3rd Saturday in October at the site of the old McDaniel's School. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience a glimpse of the past. The Old School Sorghum Festival is free to the public and offers fun for the whole family.

Watch sorghum being cooked, listen to live music and tour the McDaniel's School "Museum". This will be the 14th year of the Annual Old School Sorghum Festival which began in 1998.

Tour an original General Store which served the Mintz Community in the early 1900's. It was moved from its original location to the site of the Old School Sorghum Festival in November 2002. This general store housed the Mintz post office from 1900 to 1939 and was located on the Wilmington branch of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad.
