Sampson Women’s Center Welcomes Dr. Iliet Payan

Clinton, NC, May 2026: Sampson Regional Medical Center is proud to welcome Dr. Iliet Payan, DO, to Sampson Women’s Center as a Family Medicine & Obstetrics provider. Dr. Payan will begin seeing patients on June 1st and is now accepting appointments for women’s healthcare
services in Clinton and surrounding communities.

Dr. Payan brings experience in full-spectrum family medicine, obstetrics, and gynecology care, with a passion for serving rural communities through compassionate, personalized healthcare. Having completed her Family Medicine residency at Sampson Regional Medical Center, Dr. Payan is returning to the organization with a strong connection to both the hospital and the community it serves.

“I completed my residency at Sampson Regional Medical Center and was drawn back because of the opportunity to care for a rural community and provide the quality healthcare patients need and deserve,” said Dr. Payan. “I chose family medicine obstetrics because it allows me to care for the entire family throughout different stages of life and build lasting relationships with my patients.”

Dr. Payan completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. During her residency at SampsonRMC, she served on the Obstetrics Committee and participated in several community outreach
initiatives and health fairs throughout Sampson County. She also completed Surgical
Obstetrics training through Christ Community Health Services, where she gained extensive
experience in labor management, cesarean sections, women’s healthcare, and gynecology
procedures.

At Sampson Women’s Center, Dr. Payan will provide a wide range of services including  obstetrics, gynecology, menopause and midlife care, prenatal care, preventive women’s health services, and minimally invasive procedures. Her approach to care focuses on building relationships with patients and ensuring women feel heard, supported, and involved in their healthcare decisions.

“As a female, I think it’s important to let women know that their concerns are valid and allow them to feel heard,” Dr. Payan said. “I want them to feel involved in the decision-making process and have a voice.”

“Dr. Payan has already been a valued part of our organization during her residency, and we are excited to welcome her in this new role at Sampson Women’s Center,” said Dr. Shawn  Howerton, CEO and Chief Medical Officer of Sampson Regional Medical Center. “She will be a wonderful addition to our team and community.”

Sampson Women’s Center continues its commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare close to home for women and families throughout the region. Dr. Payan’s addition strengthens the organization’s mission of delivering compassionate care while continuing to grow women’s health services within the community.
